Matt Bettencourt Takes Money Title With Win at the 2008 Nationwide Tour Championship

Matt Bettencourt was speechless and emotional after winning the Nationwide Tour Championship, and collecting the money title, in front of friends and family Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch.

Bettencourt (69) finished at 17-under 267, one stroke ahead of Jeff Klauk who stormed home with 65 to finish at 16-under, alone in second.

25 Players Earn PGA TOUR Cards for 2009 at the Nationwide Tour Championship

Twenty-five members of the Nationwide Tour were awarded 2009 PGA TOUR cards at the Nationwide Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas based on their season-ending finish on the money list.

Matt Bettencourt birdied the 72nd hole to shoot a final-round 69 to win the Championship by one shot over Jeff Klauk. He collected a $180,000 first prize from the $1 million purse.

Bettencourt also captured the money title finishing $10,828 ahead of Brendon de Jonge, who had held the spot after the last seven tournaments.

Charity Beneficiaries

Numerous Collin County charities were invited to participate in the Tickets for Charity program, which allows Collin County nonprofit organizations to sell Nationwide Tour Championship tickets to directly benefit their charitable organization. Participating charities received 100 percent of the money collected from tickets sold.
